Last year, I spent a total of eight weeks traveling around Thailand. And since it’s Valentine’s day today and I am in Thailand (again), I thought about posting something related to Valentine’s day. So here are my top sunset picks for the most romantic islands in Southern Thailand.
1. Ko Lipe
I went to Ko Lipe by accident. It wasn’t in my list but I somehow ended up going there and I’m glad I did. among the islands I’ve been to, Ko Lipe is #1 in my list.
2. Ko Lanta
I went to Ko Lanta for one reason: to learn to drive a motorbike. Never did I think that this sleepy island will have one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. I took this shot from my hotel’s restaurant.
3. Ko Phi Phi
The beach of Ko Phi Phi is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and it also is a great place to cruise around to watch the sunset.
4. Mosquito Island, Ko Phi Phi
Anywhere in Ko Phi Phi can be a great place to watch the sunset. But if you’re looking for a more vivid experience, take a cruise to go to the northern part and watch it from Mosquito Island.
5. Ao Nang, Krabi
Ao Nang is a great take off place to explore more of Krabi such as Railey Beach and Ton Sai. I got a bit stuck in Ao Nang because it was raining for three days when I was there. Luckily, on the afternoon it cleared up, I was able to take a shot of its beautiful sunset.

WOW, great pictures. I was in Ko Lipe in 2003 and it was the best beach I’ve ever been since.
I stayed at Porn (means something else in Thai) resort and it had a restaurant with no menu and they sell what they catch that day. The chef was great.
Since then I heard many friends been and I wonder if the island had been over run with people yet. Great blog BTW.
Thank you! I love Ko Lipe and consider it the best island in Thailand! I’m so glad I went there and yes I know porn beach. I was there during shoulder season so it’s not that packed with tourists but yes there were a lot of tourists and prices are more expensive compared to the rest of Thailand.
