“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

"When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money."- Susan Heller

“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” – Tim Cahill

“I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” – Mark Twain

“Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.” – Seneca

"What I found is that you can do almost anything or go almost anywhere, if you’re not in a hurry."- Paul Theroux

"Leaving home is kind of forgiveness and when you get among strangers, you’re amazed at how decent they seem. Nobody smirks at you or gossips about you, nobody resents your success or relishes your defeats. You get to start over, a sort of redemption."- Garrison Keillor

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have traveled."- Mohammed

"Those who visit foreign nations but who associate only with their own countrymen, change their climate, but not their customs: they see new meridians, but the same men; and with heads as empty as their pockets, return home with traveled bodies, but untraveled minds."- Charles Caleb

“When you travel, you experience in a very practical way, the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situation, the day passes more slowly, and on most journeys, you don’t even understand the language the people speak… You begin to be more accessible to others because they may be able to help you in difficult situations.”- Paulo Coelho

“When we are high up, everything looks very small. Our glories and our sadness cease to be important. We have left whatever we won or lost down below. From the top of the mountain you can see how large the world is and how wide the horizon.”- Paulo Coelho

“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharial Nehru

“Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.” – Mark Jenkins

Oh Anna, it’s so amazing to see these quotes, some of them I have discovered on my own travells and they are taking me back into those days and make me dream and remember. How wonderful it was once to travel and see and experience….and if you are still doing it, my gosh I am envious and will be forever of those who have yet to experience and taste the beauty of a solo backpacking life….Much love, keep it up. Your blog looks lovely, your fellow vagabonding friend :-)
